Gerald Green: Sean Williams Is NBA Material
Many people were shocked to hear that Sean Williams has been permanently kicked out the Boston College men’s basketball team for violation of the team rules. The violation were not specified. Gerald Green was no different when he heard the news. He was stunned by it.
Gerald Green has worked with Sean Williams during the summer in 2006 at John Lucas’ basketball camp that was held at Houston. Green got to know what is was like to drive the ball under Williams massive wing span. William stands at 6 foot 10.
At a press conference after the Celtics lost to Sacramento 96-91 at TD Banknorth Garden, Green said that the decision to kick Williams out college basketball team really surprised him. He hopes that Williams will still have an opportunity to play in the league in spite of what happened. Green further went on to say that Williams was a nice person to talk to.
It is most eminent that Williams will enter the NBA draft instead of transferring to another program. However, the all important question is whether Williams is ready for the league. The Boston College junior’s offense has shown significant improvement this season but playing at NBA is a totally different ball game.
Green went from high school straight to the Celtics last season. It is only that he has to round his game into acceptable NBA form. Green can give testimony to the fact that playing at NBA is completely different from playing college basketball.
Green said that no one is college basketball circuit is ready for NBA but he felt that Williams had the potential for NBA.
